Data Platform UI & Data Layer Improvements

Updated this week

Overview

This update introduces a cleaner property layout, improved navigation, and a significantly enhanced data layer system. The goal is to make the platform easier to use, more scalable, and more efficient for both new and experienced users.

Here's a helpful video recorded by Rylan going through all the changes and improvements:

What’s Changing

1. Improved Property Card Layout

The property view has been redesigned to be more compact and user-friendly:

  • More space for key data

  • Cleaner arrangement of components

  • Reduced visual clutter

Key updates:

  • Sell Through Rate removed from the main view (still accessible elsewhere)

    • Reason: Not commonly used during property-level due diligence

  • APN moved to the top for quicker access

  • Better spacing and hierarchy for improved readability

2. Action Buttons & Navigation Enhancements

New Button Placement

  • Comp Properties and Drone Photo buttons are now more prominently placed

  • Create Comp Report moved into the Parcel Details section (more intuitive location)

Map Controls Improved

  • “Rotate to North” and “Jump to Parcel”:

    • Now styled as blue buttons

    • Positioned more clearly for visibility and usability

3. Tooling UI Improvements

The platform is moving away from icon-only buttons to a more intuitive format:

  • Icons + labels for better clarity

  • Easier onboarding for new users

No functionality changes, but improved usability for:

  • Help menu

  • Ruler

  • Draw Polygons

  • Data Layers toggle

Data Layers: Major Upgrade

4. New Accordion-Style Organization

Data layers are now grouped into collapsible sections:

  • Example: Parcels, Environmental, Boundaries, etc.

  • Makes it easier to navigate a growing number of layers

Why this matters:

  • The platform has added many layers over time and will continue to expand

  • This structure keeps the interface scalable and organized

5. Search Functionality

You can now search for data layers directly:

  • Example searches:

    • “River” → highlights surface water layers

    • “Comps” → shows relevant comp layers

This eliminates the need to browse categories manually.

6. Quick Groups (New Feature)

Quickly toggle multiple relevant layers at once.

Available Presets:

All Hazards

  • Flood zones

  • Wetlands

  • Surface water

  • Slope

  • Contours

Use this to quickly identify risks that may impact property usability.

Due Diligence

  • Owner name

  • AI buildings

  • County / Zip / City limits

  • MLS comps

Use this when analyzing and comping properties.

7. Recently Used Layers

  • Displays the last 15 layers you’ve activated

  • Useful for infrequently used layers (e.g., airports, substations)

No need to remember exact names—just revisit your recent selections.

Why This Update Matters

These changes are designed to:

  • Improve speed and efficiency during due diligence

  • Reduce friction for new users

  • Support future expansion of data layers

  • Provide a cleaner, more intuitive interface

Overall, this is a foundational upgrade that improves both usability and scalability across the platform.
