📏 Boundary Lengths Overlay

Updated over a week ago

The Boundary Lengths overlay allows you to quickly visualize the length of each segment of a parcel’s boundary directly on the map. This feature is especially useful for evaluating property dimensions, understanding lot shape, and estimating setbacks.

🔍 What This Feature Does

When enabled, Boundary Lengths will display the measurement (in feet) of each individual edge of a selected parcel. Instead of showing just total acreage or perimeter, this breaks the parcel down into its component boundary segments.

⚙️ How to Enable Boundary Lengths

  1. Open the Map View

  2. Navigate to the right-hand panel

  3. Under Data Layers, locate Parcels

  4. Toggle Boundary Lengths ON

Once enabled, select any parcel on the map to view its boundary measurements.

📐 How It Works

  • Click on any parcel to highlight it

  • Each edge of the parcel will display a measurement in feet

  • Measurements represent the length of each boundary segment—not the total perimeter

💡 Why You May See Multiple Small Segments

Not all parcel boundaries are perfectly straight lines. Many edges are made up of multiple smaller segments that slightly change direction. Because of this, you may see several measurements along what appears to be a single edge.

🧭 Interacting with the Map

  • As you pan or rotate the map, the measurement labels will adjust so they remain readable

  • Works on parcels of all shapes and sizes, including irregular or complex lots

🧠 Use Cases

  • Evaluate setback potential

  • Understand the lot dimensions before making offers

  • Analyze irregular parcel shapes

  • Estimate fencing or development requirements

⚠️ Notes

  • Measurements are displayed in feet

  • You must select a parcel to see boundary lengths

  • This feature is part of the Parcels data layer
