How to Use Aero UHD High-Resolution Imagery

Aero UHD gives Land Insights Pro users access to ultra-high-resolution aerial imagery captured from airplanes, making it easier to evaluate properties in significantly greater detail.

With Aero UHD, you can zoom in closely on parcels, view properties from multiple angles with Panorama, explore imagery in 3D, and review historical captures to see how an area has changed over time.

What is Aero UHD?

Aero UHD is Land Insights’ high-resolution aerial imagery experience.

Unlike standard satellite imagery, Aero UHD imagery is captured from airplanes and can provide much greater detail when reviewing a property. Depending on the location and available imagery, you may be able to clearly identify features such as:

  • Buildings and structures

  • RVs, trailers, and vehicles

  • Boats and equipment

  • Sheds and outbuildings

  • Property improvements

  • Terrain and surrounding land features

  • Other small details that may be difficult to identify with standard satellite imagery

Aero UHD imagery is available exclusively on the Pro plan.

How to View Aero UHD Imagery

When you open the Land Insights map, you may see a message prompting you to zoom in to view Aero imagery.

Simply zoom further into the map.

When Aero UHD coverage is available, the map will automatically display the higher-resolution aerial imagery. In areas where Aero imagery is unavailable, Land Insights will fall back to standard satellite imagery.

Because coverage varies by location, you may notice the imagery change as you move around the map.

Using Panorama View

Panorama gives you an angled view of a property, helping you better understand structures, terrain, and other property characteristics that can be difficult to see from directly overhead.

To use Panorama:

  1. Select a parcel on the map.

  2. Click Panorama when imagery is available.

  3. Choose from available viewing directions such as North, East, South, or West.

  4. Zoom in to inspect the property in greater detail.

Not every property will have imagery available from every direction. The available directions depend on the aerial imagery captured for that location.

Viewing Aero UHD in 3D

Aero UHD can also be used while exploring properties in 3D.

This can be especially useful when evaluating properties in mountainous or uneven terrain because it provides additional context around:

  • Elevation

  • Slopes

  • Surrounding terrain

  • Structures

  • Access

  • Nearby land features

Navigate to the property, switch to the available 3D view, and zoom or rotate the map to explore the surrounding area.

Right-click + Ctrl, hold and drag your mouse upside/down.

Viewing Historical Imagery

Aero UHD includes a timeline when historical captures are available.

The timeline allows you to review previous imagery and see how a parcel or surrounding area has changed over time.

For example, historical imagery may help you identify:

  • New construction

  • Property development

  • Changes to structures

  • Neighborhood growth

  • Land clearing

  • Changes in surrounding land use

To review previous imagery, use the timeline at the bottom of the map and select an available capture date.

The number of historical captures varies depending on the location.

Historical Panorama Imagery

When available, you can also use the timeline while in Panorama View.

This gives you the ability to compare angled aerial views from different dates and better understand how a property has changed over time.

Select Panorama, then use the available timeline to move between previous imagery captures.

Aero UHD Coverage

Aero UHD imagery covers up to 95% of the United States, although the availability and resolution of imagery can vary by location.

Some locations may have:

  • Multiple historical captures

  • Panorama imagery from several directions

  • Only certain Panorama directions

  • Limited historical imagery

  • No Aero UHD coverage

When Aero UHD is unavailable, Land Insights automatically displays the standard imagery available for that location.

What Happens if I’m Not on the Pro Plan?

Aero UHD is a Pro-only feature.

If you're currently on a Starter or Light plan, you may still see when Aero UHD or Panorama imagery is available for a parcel. However, selecting the feature will display an upgrade prompt.

To upgrade:

  1. Click Aero UHD or Panorama on an eligible property.

  2. Select Upgrade to Pro from the prompt.

  3. Review the Pro plan options.

  4. Choose your preferred monthly or yearly billing option.

  5. Complete the upgrade.

Once your account is upgraded to Pro, you’ll be able to access Aero UHD and its available imagery features.

Why Use Aero UHD?

Aero UHD can help you understand the story of a property before making decisions or conducting further due diligence.

By combining detailed aerial imagery, 3D viewing, Panorama perspectives, and historical captures, you can get a clearer picture of what is actually happening on and around a parcel without relying solely on traditional satellite imagery.
